Record number of visitors at renovated Rosada Fashion Outlet in opening weekend
Roosendaal, 17 May 2016 – The renovated Rosada officially opened on 13 May. The Fashion Outlet in Roosendaal was expanded with 45 new shop units and with almost 8,000 extra square meters, is now 50% bigger. In the opening weekend over 60,000 visitors came to Rosada, which now houses over 100 brands and spans 23,000 m2. That many visitors is a record high. In addition, this past Pentecost weekend, Rosada generated 80% more turnover compared to last year.
Gerben Boomsma, CEO of Stable International, developer and manager of Rosada: “The opening was a resounding success. It was busy all weekend. On White Monday we even had traffic jams on the motorway to Rosada. As compared to last year’s Pentecost weekend, we brought in 80% more in turnover. All of this exceeded our own expectations as well as those of our shopkeepers. Rosada is the Netherlands’ youngest fashion outlet and has already proven its maturity. The success of this outlet centre also shows that physical shops certainly aren’t a thing of the past.”
80% of Rosada has been leased. The Rosada expansion has created 160 new jobs in the area.
Reach: 18 million people
Rosada’s location is very favourable: close to the Belgian border, but at the same time only a 40-minute drive from Rotterdam and next to the motorway. Boomsma: “With the expansion, we have increased our catchment area from 60 to 90 minutes.” Within 90 minutes by car, we have a reach of 18 million people which resulted in Resolution – owner of Rosada as of 2012 – seeing enormous potential. In addition to visitors from the Netherlands, the Fashion Outlet has received more and more Belgian visitors over the past years, with the number of visitors increasing from 15% to over 30% in 2015.
Brands including GUESS, Adidas, Calvin Klein, Vingino, Gentiluomo, Chasin and Haribo lease shops in Rosada’s second phase buildings. This has brought the total number of national and international brands in Rosada up to more than 100. The retailers Haribo, 4funkyflavours and Chasin are opening their first outlet store in the Netherlands. In terms of food & drinks, Rosada is also introducing a number of brand-new hospitality concepts including Trattoria Rosa, Frites Cuisine and The Kitchen.
€28 million investment
The total development of the renovated Rosada and an all-new parking garage – with 900 extra parking spaces – will cost €28 million. LED screens throughout the centre offer shoppers both current information and special offers as well as brand inspiration images. In addition to the construction of the new buildings, we paid special attention to the cohesion between Phase 1 and 2. To do so, the owner Resolution made a substantial investment in the layout of the public area. The public area of the existing part was also fully renovated.
